How to choose your cat?

How to choose your cat?

Choosing an animal is the first step in a shared life that can last more than 15 years!
It is therefore important to take into account the family lifestyle and choose a cat with a temperament that is as compatible as possible with this lifestyle.

When adopting a kitten, whether it comes from an association, a breeder or an individual, the ideal is that it has remained with its mother at least 2 months, while having been confronted with humans during this period. This allows it to be balanced and to have the essential relational bases to a peaceful life together. You must therefore ask these questions to the owner who will give you the animal.

If you have the choice between several kittens from a litter, a few attitudes can help you make the right choice: if the kitten you want to take is the first to come to you, moves away easily from its mother and plays very quickly with you, it is likely that he is of a temperament "adventurous" and will be particularly comfortable in a family with activity, passage, children...

If, on the contrary, the kitten is rather shy, calm, and stays away from noise and humans, it will be better suited to a single person, a couple without children, where they will be less confronted with an environment that is too rich for them.
Be careful, temperaments change after adoption , these behaviors are only the first step in a relationship that will be built over several months, and which can change depending on the environment, the attitude of the owners and the interactions of the cat. You must therefore remain vigilant and consult us if the relationship deteriorates or if the cat does not seem to fit in well within the family.
Some breeds are famous for character traits that are supposed to represent them: the Siamese are "cat-dogs", very close to their owner, the Bengals are more wild and dynamic, the Persians are calm... you should know that the breed does not not everything in character! Every animal is different and there are different temperaments in every breed. This criterion cannot therefore be the only one in the choice of your future companion.

If in doubt, do not hesitate to ask us for advice!
