end of life

End of life:

HOW TO ACCOMPANY YOUR ANIMAL?

Our pets, dogs, cats, NAC, age faster than us. This is a reality that is often hard to accept. Approaching the end of life of your animal is always a sad, unpleasant moment, which can sometimes be traumatic.

This stage represents the end of a privileged relationship, of a story, of many years together during which our companion shared the life of his family.

During heavy, painful pathologies, significant deterioration of living conditions, when no treatment can bring any more improvement, the owner may have to take the decision of euthanasia. It is always a delicate moment which can be a source of suffering, which sometimes gives a feeling of guilt, of injustice.
The role of the veterinarian is to advise the owner, to accompany him as best as possible so that he can make the right decision.

The protocol used is always in two stages: anesthesia of the animal then injection of a product which will very quickly lead to respiratory and cardiac arrest. Some masters do not wish to attend euthanasia. It is quite possible to stay with your animal until it falls asleep, then to leave the room for the second stage or to remain present all the time.
In order for this moment to be as less "medical" as possible, we have planned a dedicated room, not medicalized, a little isolated, to stay with your animal for a while and be able to gather and say goodbye to it.

The owner is free to decide what happens to his animal's body. He can totally take it back if he wants. The clinic collaborates with a company that incinerates pets with the possibility of recovering the ashes according to the chosen formula.

Losing a companion is always a moment of sadness, doubts, questions. Some people can be very depressed after the loss of a pet. They should not hesitate to get help. Your veterinarian is there to help you answer some of these questions, to carry out this work of mourning which, after these difficult times, will allow you to start a new adventure with a new companion.
