What if my pet is lost?

What if my pet is lost?

My pet is lost!

If your animal is identified (as a reminder, identification is compulsory in France for dogs and cats), the first thing to do is to declare its disappearance to theI-CAD (Identification of domestic carnivores). This will update your pet's information and tell anyone who might find it (veterinarians, pounds, etc.) that you are looking for it.

To make this declaration, you will absolutely need to provide your identification number (microchip or tattoo). You will find this number on its Identification card. If you have lost it, ask your veterinarian to let you know.
This statement can be made:
  • on the website www.i-cad.fr, in the "HOLDER" space, which you can access using your identifiers that you received by mail with the identification card,
  • by phone at 0810 778 778 Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.,
  • by email at contact@i-cad.fr specifying "urgent-lost animal"in the subject of the message.
Once your animal is found, don't forget to report it to the I-CAD!

You can also search for your pet on your own:
  • contact veterinarians, shelters or animal associations near you, likely to have found your animal;
  • run an ad on social media - useful links: fart-alert, filalapt, Facebook,...
  • post ads in a certain area around your home, which you can expand as you go. Focus on places where there is a lot of traffic (local shops for example);
  • ask your neighborhood and leave them your contact details, they may have seen it!

Good to know!

If your animal is not identified and is found wandering, it will be placed in the pound and kept for a period of 8 working days. After this time, if you have not claimed your animal, it will be considered abandoned and will become the property of the pound manager. It can then be adopted by another person in complete legality... So remember to have your animal identified!
